Priorities and funded actions

Objectives

  • To set up a regional mechanism (inclusive and sensitive to the rights and gender approach) for the monitoring, safeguarding and protection of environmental defenders in Mesoamerica, with particular emphasis on – but not limited to – the five great forests of Mesoamerica
  • To provide environmental defenders at risk (individuals, groups and organisations) with the necessary conditions to carry out their work and to strengthen their protection and defence, thanks to the multifaceted support of the European Union. the European Union
  • To strengthen coordination and synergy with other actors and initiatives in support of environmental defenders (individuals, groups and organisations)

Priorities

  • Priority 1: A support mechanism that creates the conditions enabling environmental defenders at risk (individuals, groups and organisations) to carry out their work and improve their protection and defence in the short, medium and long term
  • Priority 2: Coordination and synergy with other actors and initiatives in support of environmental defenders

Additional information

  • This call for proposals is an open call for proposals.
  • Initial duration of the action: between 36 and 42 months

Eligibility

  • Be a legal person
  • Be established in a Member State of the European Union or in eligible countries as stipulated in the basic act. in accordance with the provisions of the IVCDCI-GE basic act or in the United States, Chile or Mexico
Financement
  • Total budget of the call: 3 million euros
  • Amount of the grant: 3 million euros
  • Co-financing rate: between 80 and 90 % of the total eligible costs
