Priorities and funded actions

Objectives

  • To strengthen CSOs in Guyana as independent actors of good governance and development in their own rights and to contribute to an inclusive, participatory, empowered and independent civil society and democratic space and an inclusive and open dialogue with and between Civil Society Organisations

LOT 1- Gender Equality and Women’s Rights

  • To protect human rights and fundamental freedoms, democracy and the rule of law
  • To strengthen and increase participation of CSOs to promote Gender Equality & Women’s Rights in Guyana

LOT 2- Good Governance and Community Development

  • To strengthen local civil society organisations including small and grassroots CSOs, engagement as actors of good governance and development in their communities

LOT 3- Natural Resources Management

  • Preservation and Sustainable Natural Resources Management in Region No. 1, as it relates to Biodiversity, conservation and development

Priorities

LOT 1- Gender Equality and Women’s Rights

  • Priority 1: empowering CSOs to contribute to full enjoyment of all human rights and to deliver key and relevant activities that will enhance Women’s rights and empowerment, prevention of gender-based violence and countering Trafficking in persons
  • Priority 2:  to provide empowering capacity-building to CSOs/CBOs and Grassroots organisations to promote and support Gender Responsive Budgeting in relation to gender mainstreaming and women’s rights
  • Priority 3: to support Civil Society Organisation’s role in promoting women’s health, and wellness education in Guyana

LOT 2- Good Governance and Community Development

  • Priority 1: increased capacity of community-based and grassroots organisations to promote inclusivity and participatory approach in decision-making process at all levels
  • Priority 2: to promote economic, social and political empowerment of women and girls in community development.

LOT 3- Natural Resources Management

  • Priority 1: increased participation of local civil society organisations including small and grassroots CSOs, in promoting conservation and protection of the bio-diversity in Region 1
  • Priority 2: strengthening Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in the environmental field, by supporting small-scale environmental and livelihood projects and capacity building actions
  • Priorirty 3: build the administrative, financial and technical capacities of CSOs via training actions and support the implementation of small-scale projects

Among financed actions

  • Actions that will promote Gender Programming and Responsive Budgeting at the regional and community levels
  • Actions that will lead to an increase of Women’s participation in decision-making
  • Actions that will prevent illegal logging and illegal mining
  • Actions that will promote conservation

Additional information

  • This call for proposals is a restricted call for proposals. In first instance, only concept notes will be evaluated.
  • Initial duration of the action: between 24 and 36 months

  • Be a legal person or a natural person
  • Be non-profit-making entity
  • Be a non-governmental organisation/civil society organisation
Financement
  • Total budget of the call: 1.248 million euro
  • Total budget of the topic:
    • LOT 1: 340.000 euro
    • LOT 2: 421.000 euro
    • LOT 3: 487.000 euro
  • Amount of the grant:
    • LOT 1: between 300.000 and 340.000 euro
    • LOT 2: between 350.000 and 421.000 euro
    • LOT 3: between 300.000 and 487.000 euro
  • Co-financing rate: between 60% and 95% of the total eligible costs
