Priorities and funded actions

Objectives

  • To strengthen CSOs as independent actors of good governance and development that contribute to the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms, democracy and the rule of law
  • To contribute to an inclusive, participatory, and independent civil society and democratic space in partner countries; and to an inclusive and open dialogue with and among CSOs

Priorities

  • Priority 1 – Protect and empower people
  • Priority 2 – Building resilient, inclusive and democratic societies
  • Priority 3 – Promoting a global system of human rights and democracy
  • Priority 4 – Safeguarding fundamental freedoms, including harnessing the opportunities and addressing the challenges of new digital and new technologies
    Priority 5 – Delivering by working together

Among financed actions

  • Generate spaces for dialogue with the authorities in charge at the national, regional and local levels
  • Training on international law
  • Actions to promote dialogue between these organizations and other CSOs
  • Actions for the creation, functioning and operation of thematic observatories

Additional information

  • This call for proposals is a restricted call for proposals. In first instance, only concept notes will be evaluated.
  • Initial duration of the action: between 36 and 48 months

Eligibility

  • Be a legal person
  • Be a non-profit entity
  • Be a Civil Society Organization (CSO)
Financement
  • Total budget of the call: 3.13 million euro
    • Lot 1:  “Human rights and Democracy program”: 1.83 million euro
    • Lot 2: “To  support civil society organizations”: 1.3 million euro
  • Amout of the grant:
    • Lot 1:  “Human rights and Democracy program”: between 300 000 and 610 000 euro
    • Lot 2: “To  support civil society organizations”: between 300 000 and 430 000 euro
  • Co-financing rate: between 50% and 95% of the total eligible costs
