Priorities and funded actions

Objectives

  • Prevent violent extremism in the most risk-prone border areas of Benin
  • Strengthen the participation and coordinated involvement of civil society actors in the prevention of radicalisation and violent extremism
  • To participate in the implementation of barrier measures against violent communication through the economic and social reintegration of people vulnerable to extremist discourse

Priorities

  • Priority 1: Support and strengthen the capacities of civil society organisations and their initiatives aimed at promoting a culture of dialogue, citizenship education and prevention of violent extremism
  • Priority 2: Strengthen the capacity of the media (including community radio stations) in the prevention of violent extremism
  • Priority 3: Strengthen the professional and economic capacities of vulnerable groups (youth and women)

Among financed actions

  • Promotion of tolerance and multiculturalism
  • Capacity building of societal actors on peace and countering violent extremism
  • Awareness raising/education on tolerance, peaceful cohabitation and the fight against violent extremism
  • Civic engagement of young people
  • Promotion of cooperation and peaceful cohabitation
  • Socio-economic empowerment of youth and women
  • Socio-economic integration of vulnerable people

Additional information

  • This call for proposals is an open call for proposals
  • Initial duration of the action: between 18 and 24 months

Eligibility

  • Be a legal person and not for profit
  • Be a Civil Society Organisation (CSO) established in accordance with the legislation in force in the country concerned
  • Be established in the Republic of Benin or in a Member State of the European Union for at least three years at the time of submission of the proposal
  • Be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co-applicant(s) and the affiliated entity/entities, and not act as an intermediary
  • Be able to demonstrate its capacity to implement projects of a similar size to the grant applied for
Financement
  • Total budget of the call: 2.3 million euro
  • Amount of the grant:
    • Lot 1: between: 300 000 and 400 000 euro
    • Lot 2: between: 200 000 and 350 000 euro
    • Lot 3: between: 350 000 and 550 000 euro
  • Co-financing rate : between 50% and 95% of the total eligible costs of the action
