Objectives
* Lot 1- Getting to Know Europe
– To develop the next generation of American transatlanticists, including among leaders of minority communities;
– To promote and raise the visibility of the EU’s international role, policies, values, and cultures in the United States;
– To build effective digital platforms and campaigns for the dissemination of information about the EU to young audiences as well as for opportunities for EU officials from the Delegation in Washington and from headquarters to engage with such audiences;
– To grow young Americans’ appreciation of the value and significance of the EU-US transatlantic relationship and partnership
* Lot 2 – Transatlantic Civil Society Dialogues
– To stimulate dialogue and cooperation between non-governmental organisations, associations, and interest groups, representing a wide range of constituencies in the EU and the US;
– To increase understanding of joint transatlantic efforts amongst relevant civil society audiences and multipliers from both the EU and US;
– To improve the feedback loop between policymakers and civil society actors in the EU and US
* Lot 3 – Building Partnerships on the Future of Work
– To stimulate cooperation, mutual learning and the exchange of best policy practice, between administrations and policymakers, non-governmental organisations, associations, researchers, academics, social partners, workers, businesses and SME’s in the EU and the US;
– To build or reinforce strategic partnerships among key stakeholders;
– To foster the dialogue between policymakers, civil society and other key actors in the EU and US
Priorities
* To enhance widespread knowledge of the Union and raising its profile and strengthening and stimulating dialogues between EU and US civil society organisation;
* To support exchange of best policy practice in the area of the Future of Work
Among financed actions
* Lot 1 – Getting to Know Europe
– Actions carried out across the US by institutions/organisations that facilitate public participation – especially among young Americans – in activities listed below which will increase the visibility of the EU in the US, the US young audience’s knowledge and understanding of the EU, and foster public affinity for the EU-US relationship;
– Actions carried out across the US by institutions/organisations which provide a visible public platform on the EU to young audiences as well as opportunities for officials from EU institutions (EU Delegation in Washington DC and from headquarters), and representatives from EU Member States to engage with audiences
* Lot 2 – Transatlantic Civil Society Dialogues
– Organisation of events/meetings/conferences and development of an online platform that will convene relevant civil society an grassroots actors/groups from the EU and US and facilitate the exchange of knowledge, experience, and good practices in the fields outlined above. Where appropriate these events/meetings/conferences should be organised on the side-lines of relevant larger scale events or government to government engagements so to act as a catalysts of further transatlantic cooperation efforts in those areas;
– Enhancement of cooperation and exchange of information between the EU and US by identifying gaps and areas for improvement;
– Contribution to the discussions in relevant transatlantic dialogues and on relevant areas discussed in transatlantic dialogues;
– Produce/publish joint policy recommendations which should be disseminated as widely as possible in the EU and in the US;
Exchanges and dissemination of expertise, knowledge, and best practice on relevant policy issues in the EU and the US
* Lot 3 – Building Partnerships on the Future of Work
– Exchanges and dissemination of expertise, knowledge, and best practice on relevant policy issues in the EU and the US in the area of the Future of work along the sectors and themes listed above;
– Organisation of events/meetings/conferences and facilitate the exchange of knowledge, experience, and good practices in the field of Future of work along the sectors and themes listed above;
– Produce/publish policy analysis and recommendations which should be disseminated as widely as possible in the EU and in the US;
– Contribution to the discussions in relevant transatlantic dialogues
Additional information
* This call for proposals is a restricted call for proposals. In the first instance, only concept notes will be evaluated
* Initial duration of the action: up to 24 months
* Eligibility:
– Be a legal person;
– Be non-profit-making;
– For lot 1, be a specific type of organisation such as: non-governmental organisation (NGO), not-for-profit (NPO) institution including, but not limited to, secondary schools, teachers federations, community colleges, youth groups, universities, think tanks, foundations, professional associations (including labour unions/federations), local community groups, cultural institutions, local associations promoting socio-cultural exchanges across the Atlantic, and other professional training centers, and other civil society organizations such as chambers of commerce. Universities are included among institutions eligible to apply, but any activities supported by the grant should exclusively involve and target members of the local or regional community (i.e. not faculty and/or students) because this Call cannot support any activity that could be construed as academic;
– For lot 1: be established in the USA in line with article 8.7 of the Common Implementing Regulation (CIR);
– For lot 2 and lot 3: be a specific type of organisation such as: non-governmental organisation (NGO), not-for-profit (NPO) institution including, but not limited to think tanks, professional associations (including labour unions/federations), business associations and other professional training centers, and other civil society organizations such as chambers of commerce. Universities are included among institutions eligible to apply, but any activities supported by the grant should exclusively involve and target the general public (i.e. not faculty and/or students) because this Call cannot support any activity that could be construed as academic;
– For lot 2 and lot 3, be established in9 a Member State of the European Union or in the USA;
– Be directly responsible for the preparation and management of the action with the co- applicant(s) and affiliated entity(ies), not acting as an intermediary;
– For lot 2 and lot 3 applications have to involve at least one EU and one USA organization
* Actions must take place in the United States. Actions that cover a wider region of the United States, covering several US states, are strongly encouraged. Whenever relevant, some activities (like Study Tours) can take place in the European Union
* Indicative allocation of funds by lot:
– Lot 1 – Getting to Know Europe: 1 million euros
– Lot 2 – Transatlantic Civil Society Transatlantic Dialogues: 400,000 euros
– Lot 3 – Building Partnerships on the Future of Work: 200,000 euros
* Grant amount:
– Lot 1- Getting to Know Europe: between 450,000 and 500,000 euros
– Lot 2 – Transatlantic Civil Society Dialogues: between 350,000 and 400,000 euros
– Lot 3 – Building Partnerships on the Future of Work: between 150,000 and 200,000 euros
* Co-financing rate: up to 80% of the total eligible costs
