Priorities and funded actions

Objectives

  • Advancement of rule of law and democratic institutions
  • Protecting and empowering individuals
  • Safeguarding fundamental freedoms, including harnessing the opportunities and addressing the challenges of new technologies

Priorities

  • Priority 1: To support development of policy framework on elections and assist to build capacities in their implementation
  • Priority 2: To develop and refine electoral observation methodology to monitor and assess the use of social media and other digital technologies during election campaigns against international standards
  • Priority 3: To support the work of Parliament in the promotion of human rights
  • Priority 4: To advocate and protect LGBTI people’s rights, eliminate inequalities, hate speech, discrimination and exclusion; reinforce their economic, social, cultural and labour rights
  • Priority 5: To support and promote respect of child rights
  • Priority 6: To advocate and provide capacity-building and other support to enable national authorities to develop and implement relevant international standards effectively in the online space
  • Priority 7: To monitor, raise awareness, stimulate public debate and design of policies targeting privacy, use and impact of the new technologies on the society, disinformation, hate speech, especially online, etc.

Among financed actions

  • Advocacy, lobbying and development of strategies by CSOs to push for legal reform, influence policy-making, or counter restrictions imposed by the states
  • Provision of psychosocial, medical, legal assistance and any other type of support
  • Monitoring of and reporting on the implementation of the international human rights instruments that the country has ratified, including documentation and reporting on cases of human rights violations
  • Capacity building of civic and political actors to develop responsive policy platforms, adequately representing citizen’s interests
  • Supporting the collection of appropriate information, including statistical and research data, to enable governments to draw up and implement policies
  • Awareness-raising and communication campaigns on specific democracy/human-rights issues in line with the CfP objectives and priorities

Additional information

  • This call for proposals is a restricted call for proposals. In first instance, only concept notes will be evaluated.
  • Initial duration of the action: between 18 months and 36 months

Eligibility

  • Be a legal person and be non-profit-making
  • Be a specific type of organisation such as: civil society organisations
  • Be established in the Republic of North Macedonia
Financement
  • Amount of the grant: between 100 000 and 200 000 euro
  • Co-financing rate: between 60% and 95% of the total eligible costs of the action
