Today’s Europe Day launches a month long programme of activities to celebrate Europe and the Europeans

The 9th of May 1950, Robert Schuman gave a speech that is today considered to have marked the birth of what would become the actual European Union. Today, the 9th of May has become a European symbol, like the European flag, anthem or unique currency, that identifies the EU throughout the World.

All along the month of May, the European Institutions will opening their doors to the public whether in Brussels, Strasburg, Membrer states or delegation abroad.

This year, due to the tragic events that have occured in Brussels, Paris and many more cities around the World, the thematic for this day and month of Europe will be “Living Toghether”
