Palermo’s urban transport network will be improved thanks to European cohesion policy

Text:

29.6 million euro from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) will be invested to complete the modernisation work on the railway line linking Palermo Central Station to Notarbartolo Station in the metropolitan area of Palermo, capital of the Italian region of Sicily. This area lies on the Palermo railway bypass, a key transport node in the region, which forms part of the Berlin-Rome-Palermo axis on the trans-European global transport network (TEN-T).

The main beneficiaries of this line will be workers and students in the Palermo region who will see their transport time reduced. All inhabitants of the region, as well as tourists, will benefit from better air quality thanks to this project which promotes clean mobility in Sicily.
