EU is investing over 432 million euro from the Cohesion Fund in the extension of the Warsaw Metro

Hat: The project for Warsaw, adopted the 10 january 2017, will fund the extension of the Metro Line 2, linking the Eastern part of the city to the West.

Grants contributing to projects in the fields of environment and trans-European networks in the area of transport infrastructure. 


The extension of the Warsaw Metro under the Cohesion Fund complies with the objectives of the Energy Union’s low-emission mobility strategy. In this frame, the 432 million euro investment will finance the construction of six new metro stations. It will also finance the construction of a technical terminal, the purchase of thirteen new trains as well as preparatory works for further extension of the line. Works are expected to be completed by November 2019.
