The prize goes to recent buildings (no more than two years old) in any of the countries covered by the “Culture 2000” programme.
The EU Prize for contemporary architecture and the Special Mention for an Emerging Architect are awarded every two years. This prize aims to raise public awareness of the cultural importance of contemporary architecture and its impact on the current and future development of European cities.
The five finalists are:
* The deFlat Keilburg in Amsterdam;
* Ely Court in London;
* Kannikegården in Ribe;
* Katyn Museum in Warsaw;
* Rivesaltes Memorial Museum in Rivesaltes.
The jury of the prize will visit the five works before the winner is announced on 16 May in Brussels and the award ceremony of the prize takes place on 26 May at the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion in Brussels.
