Text:

On 9 June 2021, the European Parliament gave the green light for the creation of the new Europe in the World instrument (the Neighbourhood, Development Cooperation and International Cooperation Instrument – NDCCI), confirming the agreement reached with the Council last December.

This instrument brings together for the first time the majority of the different funding streams for external cooperation under a single instrument, which will provide €79.9 billion of funding for the period 2021-2027. It will support sustainable development in the EU’s neighbourhood, Africa, the Americas, the Pacific and the Caribbean.

The European Commission recognised the decision of the European Parliament which will enable international partnerships on sustainable development, climate change, democracy, governance, human rights, peace and security in neighbouring countries and beyond.
