There are currently 5 candidate countries: Albania, Montenegro, Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Serbia and Turkey. The Union also has two potential candidate countries: Bosnia-Herzegovina and Kosovo. The EU provides pre-accession financial aid to the candidate countries (IPA).. It is intended to help these countries to introduce the necessary political, economic and institutional reforms, in order to bring them into line with EU standards. A key aim of assistance is to support political reform, in particular institution building, strengthening the rule of law, human rights, protection of minorities and the development of civil society. The following list provides you with all the European funds available for the candidate countries:
