The Pan-African program is the first cooperation instrument of the European Commission to cover the entire African continent. It was established in 2014 and is one of the main European financial instruments for the implementation of the Joint Africa-EU Strategy. The “PANAF” is financed under the Development Cooperation Instrument (DCI) for an amount of 845 million euro for the period 2014-2020.
The European Commission has signed six grant contracts for a total amount of 20 million euro with an implementation starting in 2017 to finance projects to support civil society on pan-African issues.
The main objective of these projects is to support the contribution of civil society organizations (CSOs) in the decision-making and policy-making at the continental level in Africa. The initiative is funded under the Pan-African Program and it’s created to support projects with a regional or continental added value on topics of common interest between the European Union and Africa.
