Research, Energy,Research centres,Corporations,SMEs,

News The Commission set up a new programme to continue the research in the coal and steel area.

The Treaty establishing the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) expired 23 July 2002. The Member States will transfer the ECSC funds to the European Community to create a common fund dedicated for research in the coal and steel area. The reserves will be used for a new research programme with the name 'Research Programme of the Research Fund for Coal and Steel'. The programme will be managed according to principles similar to those applied for the existing ECSC RTD taking the new guidelines into consideration. With the launch of the new programme an open and continuous call for proposals for coal and steel research projects has been opened, with 15 September of each year being the cut-off date for the submission of proposals for evaluation, starting in 2002. Ihe European Commission, makes available the information package necessary for participating in the call. The Information Package covers both Coal and Steel RTD. The part of the Coal research programme is managed by DG Transport and Energy and the part of the Steel research programme by DG Research.
