The provisional agreement reached on Friday 4 December 2020 between the European Parliament and the Council increases funding for transport infrastructures, digital Europe and climate action.
MEPs also obtained better support for EU programmes that create jobs and tackle the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The first figures amount to 164.3 billion euros in commitment credits and 166.1 billion euros in payment credits. Detailed figures will be available at a later date.
For a more competitive Europe, job creation and investment in the future of the EU, digital Europe will benefit from an increase of 25.7 millioneuros,the Mechanism for Interconnection in Europe (MIE) for transport infrastructure will be taken away an additional 60.3 million euros. In support of climate action, the LIFE programme will increase its fund by 42 million euros. For its part, the “Rights and Values” programme will receive an additional EUR 6.6 million, and the European Public Prosecutor’s Office, an independent body aimed at combating crimes against the EU budget, will receive an additional EUR 7.3 million.
In addition, in support of youth support, research and health, Erasmus will benefit from an additional EUR 175.1 million, Horizon Europe will benefit from an additional EUR 20 million and the “EU for Health” an additional EUR 74.3 million.
