Funding Scheme: 2018-03-21
Pgm2014 2020: Yes
On 20 March 2018, the Commission launched the WiFi4EU Internet portal. The latter will allow municipalities to create free points of access to wireless Internet in public places that do not have it.
The WiFi4EU programme offers municipalities vouchers with a unit value of 15,000 euro to install Wi-Fi access points in public areas such as libraries, museums, parks or squares. It has a budget of 120 million euro until 2020.
The first call for projects will be launched in mid-May 2018, and four more will follow until 2020.
Municipalities wishing to participate in this call are invited to register on the programme portal. Projects will be accepted on a “first come, first served” basis.
