The Union civil protection mechanism’s purpose is to garantee grants for projects which aim to improve the effectiveness of systems for preventing, preparing and responding to major emergencies.

The European Union, through its Union Civil Protection Mechanism directed by the European Commission, has with the UNICEF launched a educationnal programme called #EmergencyLessons. The aim is to provide an educationnal assistance for children living in conflict zones or areas devasted by natural disasters. 

On December 6th, field officers and decision makers holded a meeting at the European Parliament. The aim was to exchange the first experiences on the programme which targets to reach 2 million children by the end of 2016.
