The finalists of the 2016 RegioStars Awards announced

Hat: The Commission has selected the 23 finalists for the 2016 RegioStars Awards. The winners will be announced on 11 October during the 2016 European Week of Regions and Cities.

The aim of the RegioStars Awards is to award Europe’s most notable and innovative projects supported by Cohesion Policy Funds.


The Commission has revealed the 23 finalists, that have been selected by an independent jury led by MEP Lambert Van Nistelrooij. The finalists are from 14 Member States and they have been selected through 4 criteria: innovation, impact, sustainability and partnership.
Then there will be a selection among these finalists to award one project in each category. The five catgories are:
1) “Smart Growth”
2) “Sustainable Growth”
3) “Inclusive Growth”
4) “CityStars”
5) “Effective Management” (new category of this 9th edition of the RegioStars Awards)
The winners will be revealed on 11 October, during the 2016 European Week of Regions and Cities.
