After Georgia and Moldova Ukraine is the third neighbourhood country which joins Creative Europe in 2015.

Being part of Creative Europe will allow cultural and creative organisations to collaborate with partners from all over Europe and access funding for cultural cooperation projects, literary translation schemes, and cultural networks and platforms.

The Ukrainian audio-visual sector will also benefit from funding for training, festivals, audience development and market access activities.

The agreement was signed today in Kiev by Tibor Navracsics, the European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, and Vyacheslav Kyrylenko, the Ukrainian Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Culture.

As part of the same visit, Tibor Navracsics met Arseniy Yatseniuk, the Ukrainian Prime Minister, Serhiy Kvit, the Minister of Education and Science and Igor Zhdanov, the Minister of Youth and Sport to discuss cooperation in the field of education, culture, youth and sport.

Ukraine’s joining of Creative Europe comes in the context of the development of an EU strategy for cultural diplomacy that will aim to enrich and deepen the EU’s external relations.
