As part of the week of international solidarity which takes place in France from 15 to 23 November 2014, many projects and initiatives will be presented, especially regarding cultural themes.
As such, it is important to stress the role of European funding programs in the fields of culture and solidarity. Thus, under the program Creative Europe, heir to the Culture Programme 2007-2013, more than € 168 million will be spent in 2015 to defend the cultural and linguistic diversity, particularly in the framework of strand Support To European Cooperation Projects (€ 38 million for 2015).
Another essential pillar of the European cultural action, the Europe For Citizens program with an amount of € 185.4 million for the period 2014-2020 which aims to support citizenship and civic participation at European level, the strand Democratic Engagement And Civic Participation allows in particular to fund projects and initiatives to create favorable conditions for mutual understanding, intercultural dialogue, solidarity, commitment to society and volunteering at the Union level.
Finally, the Rights, Equality And Citizenship Programme (€ 54 million in 2014) includes among its objectives themes related to solidarity actions such as the fight against racism and inequality.
