Trade agreements negociated by the EU succeeded in removing trade barriers and thus promoted high standards of labour and environmental protection.
The EU has now the world‘s biggest network of trade agreements. According to the Commissioner for Trade Cecilia Malmstrom, this network helps to boost the European economy by making it easier to do business all over the world, while supporting jobs back home. Moreover, it also helps to improve the respect of labour rights as well as environmental standards.
