EU Civil Protection Mechanism : an additional €3.5 million in response to Ebola

The overall objective of the EU Civil Protection Mechanism is to strengthen cooperation between Participating States in the field of civil protection, with a view to improving prevention, preparedness and response to disasters.

The EU Civil Protection Mechanism has been activated since the beginning of the Ebola outbreak in 2018. The EU announced today further emergency funding of €3.5 million, of which €2.5 million is for Uganda and €1 million for South Sudan. The aid package will strengthen rapid detection and reaction to Ebola cases.

This funding comes on top of the €17 million in EU funding for Ebola response since 2018.
