The Interreg Atlantic Area programme was adopted by the Commission on 9 September 2022 and was officially launched on 29 September in Viana Do Costelo, Portugal. The programme has a budget of €150 million, of which €113 million is earmarked for transnational cooperation projects.
The Interreg Atlantic Area programme brings together a total of 25 regions from 4 European countries: France, Spain, Ireland and Portugal. Each project must involve at least 4 partners and can benefit from 75% co-financing. The priorities funded are the following:
- Blue innovation and competitiveness (Smarter Europe)
- Blue and green environment (Greener Europe)
- Blue sustainable tourism and culture (Social Europe)
- A better gouvernance for cooperation (Interreg objective)
The first call for projects is expected in autumn 2022 with a closing date of January 2023.
