Launched in 2011 under the FP7, the Public Private Partnership Future Internet (PPP FI) is a European programme with € 300M. This programme is now in its third phase, and it is dedicated to SMEs and web-entrepreneurs and in this context, € 100m of grants will be distributed during calls for contributions in September 2014.
The PPP FI aims to provide the broadest innovative technologies to develop business on the Internet in the years to come. These technologies, from FP7 projects have been industrialized and documented during the first two phases of the programme, especially with “use projects” representing vertical sectors such as transportation, smart grids, content. These projects use prototypes of new services that will be tested in real situations by real users.
To facilitate testing of these technologies, European manufacturers such Orange, Telefonica, Telecom Italia, Deutsch Telecom, Thales, Sap, Atos, Alcatel Lucent, Technicolor, NSN, Ercisson, Intel, IBM, Engineering, Siemens also implemented a collaborative cloud FI-Lab which will have very soon 17 data centers across Europe.
An approach Open Innovation: today 70% of generic software (Generic Enablers) FI-WARE components are open source and free for use. Similarly, 100% of the technical specifications are free and available on the internet.
Discover these related software components Cloud, Big Data, Internet of Things, security and respect for privacy. You now have six months to play with these technologies and submit your ideas for services during calls for contributions in September and October and potentially benefit from an aid of 50,000 to 75,000 euro to develop your new service, your new product.
