The Commission has raised the ceiling for public aid to help the fisheries, aquaculture and processing sector tackle the health crisis.
The European Commission has increased the ceiling for the “minimis” aid from 30,000 euro to 120,000 euro, allowing Member States to finance these sectors without having to wait for the European Commission’s approval.
In the coming weeks, the Commission is due to incorporate the exceptional nature of this health crisis into the European Fund for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (EFFAMP), both for the temporary cessation of fishing and aquaculture activities and for storage.
