Priorities and funded actions

Objectives

  • To promote policy cooperation and innovative actions supporting all strands of the Programme
  • To promote a diverse, independent and pluralistic media environment and media literacy
  • To promote cross-sectoral activities that aim at adjusting to the structural and technological changes faced by the media, including enhancing a free, diverse, and pluralistic media environment, quality journalism and media, literacy including in the digital environment

Priority

  • Encourage systemic cooperation between professional news media organisations to improve the viability and competitiveness of professionally produced journalism, by focusing on collaborative business transformation and/or collaborative journalistic projects

Among financed actions

  • Collaborative projects between any news media (sub)sector and/or genre that aim to enhance cooperation and instil systemic change across the wider news media ecosystem

Additional information

  • This call for proposals is an open call for proposals
  • Initial duration of the action: 24 months

Eligibility

  • Be legal entities (public or private bodies)
  • Be established in one of the eligible countries
  • Associations and interest groupings : Entities composed of members may participate as ‘sole beneficiaries’ or ‘beneficiaries without legal personality’
  • A consortium composed of at least 3 entities, established in at least 3 different EU Member States or associated countries to the programme must be constituted
Financement
  • Total budget of the topic « NEWS-Journalism partnerships » : 7.5 million euro 
  • Amount of the grant: between 300,000 and 2.5 million euro 
  • Co-financing rate: up to 80% of the total eligible costs
