Priorities and funded actions

Objectives

  • To trigger and deepen unprecedented levels of institutional cooperation between higher education institutions, making it systemic, structural and sustainable
  • To encourage the emergence of bottom-up alliances of universities across Europe, which will enable students to combine studies in several countries

Priorities

Priority 1 – Promote common European values and a strengthened European identity by bringing together a new generation of Europeans able to cooperate within different cultures, languages, and across borders, sectors and academic disciplines

Priority 2 – Reach a substantial leap in quality, performance, attractiveness and competitiveness of European higher education institutions

Priority 3 – Contribute to the European knowledge economy, employment, creativity, culture and welfare by making the best use of innovative pedagogies and striving to make the knowledge square a reality

Priority 4 – Become key drivers to boost the quality of higher education and where possible to strengthen its link to the research and innovation landscape in Europe and its outreach towards the society and economy

Among financed actions

  • Set-up new alliances through a step-by-step approach towards deeper institutionalised transnational cooperation and gradually achieving the long-term ambitious vision for European Universities
  • Test different innovative and structural models for implementing and achieving the long-term vision that has the potential to transform the institutional cooperation between higher education institutions and bring it to the next level

  • This call for proposals is an open call for proposals
  • Initial duration of the action: 48 months

Eligibility

  • Be Higher Education Institutions holding a valid Erasmus Charter for Higher Education (ECHE) and entities affiliated to them, including:
    • Higher Education Institutions already involved in deep institutional transnational cooperation, such as those being part of European Universities selected under the 2019 Erasmus+ call
    • Higher Education Institutions wishing to establish new deep institutional transnational cooperation in a new alliance
  • Be any public/private organisation active in the field of education and training, research and innovation or in the world of work
Financement
  • Total budget of the call: 272 million euro
  • Total budget of the topic “European Universities – Development of new deep institutional transnational cooperation (Topic 2)”: 46.4 million euro
  • Amount of the grant: up to 14.4 million euro
  • Co-financing rate: up to 80% of the total eligible costs
