Priorities and funded actions
Objectives
- To enable inclusive growth and resilience to extreme climate conditions in rural communities, based on improved agriculture and sustainable use of water and natural resources;
- To improve livelihood in rural areas, by improving management of natural resources to reduce poverty as well as food and nutrition insecurity in upper catchments of Zeravshon river Watershed.
Priorities
- Sustainable production practices are promoted among rural communities;
- Watershed management plans under Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) are prepared and possibly implemented;
- Nutrition at community level is improved: safe and supportive environments for enhanced nutrition at all ages;
- Access to safe drinking water and sanitation is improved.
Among financed activities
- Support the integration of principles and mechanisms of sustainable natural resource management into the planning and implementation of all local authority and community-based initiatives;
- Support Community-based Organizations in adopting sustainable and inclusive rural development practices improving resilience (including climate resilience) and reducing environmental degradation;
- Support the preparation and implementation of integrated watershed development plan at community and catchment levels;
- Improve water supply through efficient irrigation and management;
- Identify and implement Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) measures in coordination with the local communities and authorities (flood control, soil conservation, early-warning procedures and allocation of budget resources) and explore the potential for eco-friendly DRR measures (nature-based) solutions that will also have an added value on addressing biodiversity and land degradation;
- Improve access to safe drinking water systems and sanitation services in targeted communities;
- Promote actions at community level aiming at change of dietary behaviour to improve nutrition status of children and women;
- Identify and address gender inequalities in access to water, land, forest, land’s property rights and division of labour.

- This call for proposals is an open call for proposals.
- Initial duration of the action: between 54 and 66 months.
- The action must take place in the following regions:
- Zaravshon valley,
- Sogd province,
- Republic of Tajikistan: Kuhistony Matchoh, Ainy and Panjakent districts.
Eligibility
- Be a legal person;
- Be non-profit-making;
- Lead applicants established in Tajikistan must act with at least one co-applicant established in Tajikistan;
- Lead applicants not established in Tajikistan must act together with at least two co-applicants established in Tajikistan.
