Priorities and funded actions

Objectives 

  • To strengthened freedom of expression, through enhancing the role of various media associations/civil society organisations in their active promotion and advocacy for effective protection of the labour and social rights of journalists.
  • To support media organisations and journalists professional associations to actively promote and protect journalistic profession in dialogue with authorities, media owners, and other stakeholders aimed to create conducive environment for freedom of expression/media.
  • To support CSOs/media association initiatives aimed to improve economic and social rights of journalists and media workers, promote and monitor respect of labour laws, raise awareness on international and EU standards and best practices.

Priorities

  • Priority 1: Raise awareness about importance of journalists’ profession, right to union organisation
  • Priority 2: Promote professional standards and capacity building
  • Priority 3: Assist state authorities in developing and implementing laws, regulations and policies protecting journalists/media workers economic and social rights
  • Priority 4: Foster international/EU best practice exchanges on enhancing journalists economic and social rights.

Among financed actions

  • Actions concerned only or mainly with individual sponsorships for participation in workshops, seminars, conferences and congresses
  • Actions concerned only or mainly with individual scholarships for studies or training courses
  • Actions essentially focused on construction activities, purchase of equipment, purchase and/or renovation of building or offices
  • Actions aiming predominantly at charitable donations and profit making activities

Additional information 

  • This call for proposals is a restricted call for proposals. In first instance, only concept notes will be evaluated.
  • Initial duration of the action: between 12 and 24 months

Eligibility

  • Be a legal person
  • Be non-profit-making
  • Be a specific type of organisation such as: civil society organisations
  • Be established in the Republic of North Macedonia
Financement
  • Total budget of the call: 500,000 euro
  • Amount of the grant: between 90,000 and 150,000 euro
  • Co-financing rate: between 60% and 95% of the total eligible costs of the action
