Future economic priorities of the EU-ACP agreement negotiated today in New York

A text on economic priorities to boost growth, employment and improve living conditions for all was approved today, as part of the post-2020 agreement between the European Union and the African, Caribbean and Pacific countries.

Robert Dussey, Togolese Minister for Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Integration of Africa, Chief Negotiator of the ACP countries and Chairman of the Central Ministerial Negotiating Group, welcomes the work accomplished and the progress made since the last meeting.

Negotiations will continue on the other parts of the agreement in the upcoming weeks. Discussions on the “common basis” for all countries cover general provisions, international cooperation, cooperation modalities, institutional framework and final provisions.

In parallel, discussions on the three partnerships with each region will be intensified. The chief negotiators are expected to discuss progress on the partnership agreement with each of the three regions at their next meeting in October.
