Priorities and funded actions

Objectives

  • To contribute to the creation and consolidation of dignified and sustainable livelihoods other than coca cultivation in Bolivia
  • To improve alternative agricultural and agro-ecological practices for small farmers in or around coca leaf production areas
  • To improve the economic, social, environmental and equitable functioning of alternative value chains to the coca leaf
  • To improve the quality of alternative income-generating activities to coca leaf production, in or around coca leaf production areas

Priorities

  • Priority 1: To ensure complementarity with the ongoing EDISC 2021-2025 budget support programme and coordination with the various institutions responsible for policy implementation
  • Priority 2: To promote complementarity and synergies with national programmes and international cooperation programmes, and establish effective coordination mechanisms with the relevant national institutions and programmes, cooperation programmes and agencies, departmental and municipal authorities, producer organisations and representatives of civil society
  • Priority 3: To promote innovative proposals that significantly include at least two of the following cross-cutting themes: gender equality, youth, digitisation, the environment, the circular economy, etc.
  • Priority 4: To integrate the concepts and principles of food systems and agroecology

Among financed actions

  • Promoting organic solutions for more productive and resilient farming systems
  • Investment in mechanisation and technology to improve productivity and market access
  • Developing digital solutions for new advisory services
  • Support for the development, production and generation of a diversity of seeds and animal breeds to increase agrobiodiversity
  • Support for the development and local public and private funding of sustainable, climate-resilient value chain activities in rural areas for post-harvest handling, cold chains, processing, marketing, etc. based on circular economy principles
  • Support for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises to develop alternative activities to coca leaf production
  • Improving knowledge of public policies on integral development with the coca leaf in order to strengthen the influence of civil society on public policies

Additionnal information

  • This call for proposals is a restricted call for proposals. In first instance, only concept notes will be evaluated.
  • Initial duration of the action: between 36 and 48 months

Eligibility

  • Be a legal person
  • Be a non-profit making entity
  • Be a NGO or a foundation
  • Have at least one co-applicant
Financement
  • Total budget of the call: 4.000.000 euro
  • Amount of the grant: between 500.000 and 1.000.000 euro
  • Co-financing rate: between 60% and 90% of the total eligible costs
