Priorities and funded actions

Objectives

  • To empower local peacebuilders in crisis-affected contexts in Ethiopia
  • To strengthen the operational and financial capacity of local peacebuilders in crisis-affected contexts in Ethiopia
  • To establish an effective sub-granting system to support small scale locally led CSOs peacebuilding efforts in crisis-affected contexts in Ethiopia

Priorities

  • Priority 1 – To give more ownership to a diversified local civil society in the design and implementation of smallscale peacebuilding initiatives and/or assignments that respond to context-specific needs of communities
  • Priority 2 – To promote effective, inclusive and sustainable engagement of local CSOs in peace building activities
    in Ethiopia
  • Priority 3 – To stimulate dialogue and exchange of experiences among CSOs networks in a number of areas of common interests, especially prevention of violence
  • Priority 4 – To promote cohesion and strengthen mutual trust and ties among CSOs working in the peace building space
  • Priority 5 – To support and/or facilitate creation / strengthening of COSs led initiatives for peace across Ethiopia
  • Priority 6 – To promote inspiring narratives of how local CSOs can be effective agents for change

Among financed actions

  • Train, mentor, capacitate, support and inspire the work of local CSOs working on peace in Ethiopia
  • Accompany local CSOs and strengthen their capacities for inclusive project design and management
  • Forge stronger partnerships and facilitate transfer of capacity between local CSOs, grass-roots organisations, local communities, interest groups and authorities reflecting reciprocal priorities and needs
  • Support local CSOs facing challenges related to increasingly restrictive local legislations governing CSOs and their activities – including through exchanges of best practices and solutions
  • Test means to fund micro-grants through intermediary actors to implement community-led initiatives and/or short-term assignments

Additional information

  • This call for proposals is a restricted call for proposals. In first instance, only concept notes will be evaluated.
  • Initial duration of the action: between 24 and 36 months

Eligibility

  • Be a legal person
  • Be a non-profit-making entity
  • Be a civil society organisation
Financement
  • Total budget of the call: 4 million euro
  • Amount of the grant: between 800.000 euro and 2 million euro
  • Co-financing rate: between 80 and 95% of the total eligible costs
