Against the backdrop of the Ukrainian war, Greece plans to overhaul its Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) National Strategic Plan (NSP) to build resilience and expand financing and risk management tools for farmers.
Georgios Georgantas, Greek Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, spoke to EURACTIV Greece.
The war in Ukraine has triggered a political response from our government and the EU so that we can provide immediate and effective sustainable solutions to critical issues.
These include topics such as energy self-sufficiency and renewable energy, reducing input costs through investments in new and digital technologies, promoting the collective organization of producers to strengthen their position in the value chain, and expanding financial and risk management tools to protect producers’ incomes in case of unforeseen exogenous crises, including economic, environmental and epidemiological ones, etc.
