Priorities and funded actions

Objective

To develop and strengthen the scientific knowledge needed to support the science-basis for fisheries management measures.

Priorities

  • Priority 1: To reinforce of policy-oriented fisheries science
  • Priority 2: To make better use of the collected scientific data
  • Priority 3: To improve cooperation between scientists and the fisheries sector
  • Priority 4: To support of the EU scientific community in developing and maintaining the relevant expertise to provide high quality scientific advice

Among financed actions

  • Developing methodologies for stock identification/definition and/or evaluation including refining of stock geographical distribution and assessment parameters,
  • Modelling
  • Collection and processing of samples and/or data in the field
  • Harmonise and/or improve protocols of data collection, handling and management to serve the scientific advisory process
  • Trials (e.g. exploring methods for improving surveys)
  • Meta-analysis, data validation and/or data preparation to feed into models
  • Expanding current databases or creating new databases and link with existing initiatives
  • Developing new advice formats or frequencies

Eligibility

  • Be a legal person
  • Be a public or private entity
  • Be established in one of the eligible countries:
    • EU Member States (including overseas countries and territories)
  • Be research centres, institutes, universities, foundations and scientific bodies primarily active in fisheries science or in marine science applied to fisheries management
  • A consortium composed of at least 2 entities, in at least 2 different EU Member States must be constituted

  • Initial duration of the action: between 18 and 30 months

Financement
  • Total budget of the call: 2.6 million euro
  • Amount of the grant: between 400.000 and 600.000 euro
  • Funding rate: up to 80% of the total eligible costs
