Priorities and funded actions

Objectives 

  • EDF-2024-DA-C4ISR-AIMA-STEP: To design, develop and build a system to accelerate command and control and enhance operational effectiveness by providing cross-domain mobile ad-hoc networking capabilities to the armed forces, with AI-based multifunctional aperture and transceiver
  • EDF-2024-DA-C4ISR-COMS-STEP: To support the need for an always connected concept enabling military applications to roam securely through a mix of private and public networks
  • EDF-2024-DA-C4ISR-SEEU-STEP: To have a direct impact on the tactical operational effectiveness of armed forces in multi-domain operations (air, land and maritime) through UAS technologies
  • EDF-2024-DA-C4ISR-MALE: To result in a step-changing programme on Medium Altitude Long Endurance RPAS, in line with the commonly agreed EU defence objectives
  • EDF-2024-DA-CYBER-NGCR-STEP: To address the remaining challenge on design and development of solutions that deliver notable progress vis-à-vis the current state-of-the-art on Next-Generation Cooperative Cyber Range
  • EDF-2024-DA-SPACE-EPW-STEP: To further develop a European interoperable protected waveform for satellite military communications
  • EDF-2024-DA-ENERENV-EEMC-STEP: To enable the fossil fuel dependency reduction in military deployable camps (support and mobility) without any drop of operational performances
  • EDF-2024-DA-AIR-NGRT: To provide the EU Member States and EDF Associated Countries with a European solution that meets the European market and military needs in the field of rotorcraft
  • EDF-2024-DA-GROUND-UGS-STEP: To develop an unmanned modular system of systems capable of supporting dismounted, mechanised and motorised infantry in all types of European geographic and operational land environments
  • EDF-2024-DA-GROUND-BLOS: To further develop Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS) technical systems
  • EDF-2024-DA-GROUND-AIFV: To upgrade the current, and to develop the next generation armoured infantry fighting vehicle capable of outstanding operational effectiveness and mission success
  • EDF-2024-DA-NAVAL-FNP: To define the common operational requirements of the System of Systems (SoS) framework and the essential elements of the next generation of European naval platforms
  • EDF-2024-DA-UWW-AHMS: To reach at least technology readiness level 6 for a minesweeping system (platform/drone and payload designed for it)
  • EDF-2024-DA-SIMTRAIN-STME-STEP: To address the current operational challenges facing military medical personnel, including in and out areas of deployment, through simulation and training

Among financed actions

  • Activities that aim to increase interoperability and resilience, including secured production and exchange of data, to master critical defence technologies, to strengthen the security of supply or to enable the effective exploitation of results for defence products and technologies (integrating knowledge)
  • Studies, such as feasibility studies to explore the feasibility of new or upgraded products, technologies, processes, services and solutions
  • Design of a defence product, tangible or intangible component or technology as well as the definition of the technical specifications on which such a design has been developed, including any partial test for risk reduction in an industrial or representative environment
  • System prototyping of a defence product, tangible or intangible component or technology
  • Testing of a defence product, tangible or intangible component or technology
  • Qualification of a defence product, tangible or intangible component or technology
  • Certification of a defence product, tangible or intangible component or technology
  • Development of technologies or assets increasing efficiency across the life cycle of defence products and technologies

Eligiblity

  • Be a legal person
  • Be a public or private entity
  • Be established in one of the eligible countries:
    • EU Member States (including overseas countries and territories)
    • Non-EU states : listed EEA countries and countries associated to the European Defence Fund (Click here)
  • Have its executive management structure established in eligible countries
  • Must not be subject to control by a non-associated third country or non-associated third-country entity
  • A consortium composed of at least 3 entities, established in at least 3 different EU Member States or associated countries to the programme must be constitute
