Priorities and funded actions

Objectives

  • To develop, demonstrate, promote and stimulate scale up of innovative techniques, methods and approaches (including nature-based solutions and
    ecosystem approach) for reaching the objectives of the EU legislation and policy on nature and biodiversity, and to contribute to the knowledge base and to the application of best practices, including through the support of the Natura 2000
  • To support the development, implementation, monitoring and enforcement of EU legislation and policy on nature and biodiversity, including by improving governance at all levels, in particular through enhancing capacities of public and private actors and the involvement of civil society, also taking into due consideration the possible contributions provided by citizen science
  • To catalyse the large-scale deployment of successful solutions/approaches for
    implementing EU legislation and policy on nature and biodiversity, by replicating results, integrating related objectives into other policies and into public and private sector practices, mobilising investment and improving access to finance

Priorities

  • Priority 1: LIFE-2024-STRAT-NAT-SNaP-two-stage – Strategic Nature Projects
    • Sub-priority 1: To support the achievement of EU nature and biodiversity objectives by implementing coherent programmes of action in Member States in order to mainstream those objectives and priorities into other policies and financing instruments
  • Priority 2: LIFE-2024-STRAT-ENV-SIP-two-stage – Strategic Integrated Projects -Environment
    • Sub-priority 1: Circular Economy: National or Regional Circular Economy Action Plans, Strategies, Roadmaps or similar, which are officially approved, and which include specific and measurable actions, or targets, with a clear timeline and are in line with or complementing the objectives of the EU Circular Economy Action Plan
    • Sub-priority 2: Waste: National and regional Waste Management Plans (WMPs) pursuant to Article 28 of the Waste Framework Directive and/or Waste Prevention Programmes (WPPs) as requested by Article 29 of the Waste Framework Directive
    • Sub-priority 3: Water: River Basin Management Plans (RBMPs) pursuant to Annex VII to the Water Framework Directive, Flood Risk Management Plans (FRMPs) pursuant to the Floods Directive or Marine Strategies pursuant to the Marine Strategy Framework Directive
    • Sub-priority 4: Air: Air Quality Plans pursuant to the Air Quality Directive or National Air Pollution Control Programmes (NAPCP) pursuant to the National Emission Ceilings Directive
  • Priority 3 : LIFE-2024-STRAT-CLIMA-SIP-two-stage – Strategic Integrated Projects – Climate Action
    • Sub-priority 1: National Energy and Climate Plans (NECP) including Long-Term Strategies (LTS)
    • Sub-priority 2 : Urban or community-based action plans pioneering the transition to a climateneutral and/or climate resilient society, including climate-neutral cities plans and actions, for instance in the context of the EU Mission ‘Climate neutral and smart cities’ and Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans
    • Sub priority 3: National, regional or industry-/sector-specific greenhouse gas mitigation strategies or low carbon economy roadmaps

Eligibility

  • Be a legal person
  • Be a public or private entity
  • Be a non-profit making entity
  • Be established in one of the eligible countries:
    • EU Member States (including overseas countries and territories)
    • Non-EU states : listed EEA countries and countries associated to the LIFE programme (participating countries)
  • A consortium composed of at least 2 entities must be constituted
