  • Be established in Egypt or in a Member State of the European Union or contracting parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area
  • Actions must take place in Egypt
    • Lot 1: The majority of the action must take place in the following Upper Egypt governorates: Beni Suef, Fayoum, Luxor and Aswan and North and/or South Sinai. As relevant, networking or other complementary activities may be foreseen in Cairo.
    • Lot 2: Cairo, Giza, Alexandria, Damietta, Port Said, New Valley, Beni Suef, Fayoum, Luxor and Aswan, North and/or South Sinai. As relevant, networking or other complementary activities may be foreseen in Cairo

Priorities and funded actions

Objectives

  • To establish a pool of framework partners who share EU’s vision on democracy and sustainable development and having mutual development cooperation interests and common general objectives
  • To award specific grant agreements to a limited number of those framework partners, in order to strengthen local civil society organisations’ (CSOs) engagement as actors of good governance and development in Egyp

Among financed actions

  • Local development and governance:
    • Promoting local solutions and circular economy to foster income generating and livelihoods opportunities
    • Promoting civic participation and human rights approaches to development
  • Environment:
    • Promoting the involvement of local stakeholders in climate and environmental actions
    • Promoting green entrepreneurship including notably in the area of sustainable tourism and resource efficiency solutions
  • Digitalisation:
    • Promoting the use of digital services by CSOs and local communities
    • Enhancing digital skills within CSOs and local communities
  • Culture:
    • Strengthening professionals’ and organizations’ competences in the culture, cultural heritage and creative sectors to showcase cultural productions to the local audience
    • Promoting cultural exchanges and crosscutting initiatives aiming at enhancing tolerance and respect for diversity
  • Migration
    • Supporting access to health care and education
    • Raising awareness on the risks of and present existing positive alternatives to irregular migration
  • Women rights and empowerment
    • Promoting access to legal, social, medical and psychosocial support to victims of gender based violence
    • Promoting women’s digital literacy and digital inclusion as means for women’s empowerment and participation

  • This is an open call for proposals
  • Initial duration of the action: between 36 and 48 months

Eligibility

  • Be a legal person
  • Be non-profit-making
  • Be a civil society organisation or a cultural operator
  • Be established in Egypt or in a Member State of the European Union or contracting parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area
Financement
  • Total budget of the call: 5.7 million euro
    • Lot 1: 4 million euro
    • Lot 2: 1.7 million euro
  • Amount of the grant:
    • Lot 1: beteween 400 000 euro and 1 million euro
    • Lot 2: between 400 000 euro and 850 000 euro
  • Co-financing rate:
    • Lot 1: between 51% and 95% of the total eligible costs
    • Lot 2: between 51% and 70% of the total eligible costs
