The European Commission has signed 30 grant agreements for research projects in Horizon Europe Cluster 3: Civil Security for Society. The research projects will cover topics such as crime reduction, improving privacy and managing responses to natural disasters.
The European Commission had opened 5 Horizon Europe calls for projects in June 2021 for a total of 169 million euro. Cluster 3: Civil Security for Society addresses the challenges of security risks, ranging from cybercrime to the impact of natural and man-made disasters, crime and terrorism.
The European Research Executive Agency, in charge of project selection, received 218 applications. In the end, 30 projects were selected in the following areas:
- Border Management
- Fighting Crime and Terrorism
- Disaster Resilient Societies
- Strenghtened Security Research and Innovation
- Resilient Infrastructure
These projects are among the first to be funded under the 2021-2027 programming period.
