EU investment for climate transition

The Commission signed on 1 April grant agreements amounting to 1.1 billion for seven large-scale projects through the European Innovation Fund, financed by revenues from the EU Emissions Trading Scheme.

The funding of these projects aims to reduce emissions by more than 76 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent in their first ten years of operation. The seven projects deploy innovative low-carbon technologies on an industrial scale, covering key sectors such as hydrogen, steel, chemicals, cement, solar energy, biofuels and carbon capture and storage.
