Horizon Europe launches projects linking health and climate change

The Health Cluster of the Horizon Europe programme aims to improve and protect the health and well-being of EU citizens through research and development of innovative solutions. In particular, the cluster funds projects on “Environmental and social determinants of health”.

Climate change and environmental deterioration impact on our health and well-being through the occurrence of severe weather events, such as heat waves, deteriorating air quality and the spread of viruses.

The projects funded by Horizon Europe should enable Europe to develop innovative responses to issues such as environmental stressors and their impact on health.

The 6 funded projects are thus doing research on :

• Connections between:
  • Changes in environmental hazards caused by climate change
  • Climate-induced impacts on ecosystems
  • Their influence on human health
• Climate-induced transmissions of pathogens and spread of zoonotic pathogens
