Priorities and funded actions

Objectives

  • To promote exchanges between citizens of different countries, through town-twinning, to give them practical experience of the wealth and diversity of the common heritage of the Union
  • To promote citizens’ engagement in the democratic life
  • To encourage cooperation between municipalities and the exchange of best practices
  • To reinforce the role of local and regional authorities in the European integration process

Priorities

  • Priority 1: fostering active citizenship and democratic participation at local level
  • Priority 2: raising awareness of EU values, rights and democratic standards
  • Priority 3: strengthening social resilience and address local challenges
  • Priority 4: supporting community-based action to prevent and raise awareness of violence including domestic violence and violence against children

Eligibility

  • Be a public body or a non-profit organisation with legal personality
  • Be towns/municipalities and/or other levels of local authorities or their twinning committees or other non-profit organisations representing local authorities
  • Be established in one of the eligible countries:
    • EU Member States (including overseas countries and territories)
    • Non-EU states: countries associated to the CERV Programme or countries which are in ongoing negotiations for an association agreement and where the agreement enters into force before grant signature (list of participating countries)
  • Beneficiaries and affiliated entities must register in the Participant Register before submitting the proposal.
  • Only applications by single applicants are allowed.
  • Proposals must involve municipalities from at least 2 eligible countries of which at least 1 is an EU Member State.

Additional information

  • Initial duration of the action: between 6 and 12 months

Extensions are possible, if duly justified and through an amendment.

  • Total budget of the call: 6 million euros
  • Amount of the grant: between 8,455 and 50,745 euros

The grant awarded may be lower than the amount requested.

This grant is a lump sum grant.
