LIFE – Projects for addressing ad hoc Legislative and Policy priorities (PLP) – 2026

Objectives

• To digitise environmental assessments and permitting procedures
• To preserve primary and old-growth forest in critical regions through mapping and awareness raising
• To reduce discharges into marine waters from exhaust gas cleaning systems installed onboard ships
• To support capacity-building of authorities in Montenegro and North Macedonia
• To support Member States in fostering a multilevel climate and energy dialogue
• To increase compliance of products on the European market with ecodesign and energy labelling requirements

Eligibility

• Be legal entities (public or private bodies)
• Be established in one of the eligible countries:
  • EU Member States (including overseas countries and territories)
  • Non-EU states: listed EEA countries and countries associated to the LIFE Programme (list of participating countries)
• The coordinator must be established in an eligible country.
• Beneficiaries and affiliated entities must register in the Participant Register before submitting the proposal.
• A consortium composed of

  • at least 3 entities (beneficiaries; not affiliated entities) from 3 different eligible countries must be constituted (LIFE-2026-PLP-ENER-GOV)
  • at least 3 entities (beneficiaries; not affiliated entities) from 3 different eligible countries must be constituted (LIFE-2026-PLP-ENER-COMPLIANCE)

• Initial duration of the action: between 12 and 48 months

Extensions are possible, if duly justified and through an amendment.

• Total budget of the call: 18 million euros
• Budget per topic:
  • LIFE-2026-NAT-ENV: 13.5 million euros
  • LIFE-2026-PLP-ENER-GOV: 2 million euros
  • LIFE2026-PLP-ENER-COMPLIANCE: 2.5 million euros
• Amount of the grant: between 500,000 and 8.000.000 euros

The grant awarded may be lower than the amount requested.

• Funding rate: up to 90% of the total eligible costs
