UK transitional measures to guarantee its participation in the first Horizon Europe calls

The UK government is putting in place transitional measures to secure funding for UK entities shortlisted for Horizon Europe projects.

Although the United Kingdom is officially considered by the European Commission as an associated country to Horizon Europe, this association is not yet effective, as no agreement has yet been signed. However, the general annexes to the 2021-2022 work programme specify that in order for an entity from a country associated to Horizon Europe to be considered eligible to receive EU funds and therefore to sign a grant agreement and receive funds, the association of its country of establishment must be concluded and in force. The UK government has therefore decided to financially support UK entities involved in projects selected by the EU following the first wave of Horizon Europe calls.
