Horizon Europe – Pillar 1 – Excellent Science – 2021-2027

The first pillar of the Horizon Europe programme aims to strengthen and develop the excellence of the European Union’s science base.

Objectives

• To support basic research projects
• To support exchanges
• To support the development of research infrastructures

Structure 

• The European Research Council ERC
  • Offers individual grants for researchers studying in areas of scientific excellence

• Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions
  • Allows for the funding of researcher mobility in order to allow for an exchange of knowledge but also for the acquisition of new skills, notably through the development of a cross-sectoral approach

• Research infrastructures
  • Promotes the development of European research infrastructures of excellence, helps to develop their innovations in order to strengthen European policy
